Want to make sure bace’s hardware is reliable, scalable, and seamlessly deployed across Germany? As our Hardware Manager, you’ll take end-to-end responsibility for all physical components in the field - from supplier coordination and quality control to on-site troubleshooting and leading our working student.

This role brings hardware to life: you’ll be the bridge between suppliers, operations, and our product team, ensuring our hub systems run smoothly as we scale.

Responsibilities & Tasks as a Hardware Manager

As our Hardware Manager, you will be responsible for the operational excellence, quality, and reliability of our hardware - from component sourcing to field deployments.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and coordinate hardware suppliers: communication, alignment, and on-site visits (~30% travel)

  • Oversee incoming quality, sample validation, and hardware reliability checks

  • Troubleshoot hardware issues on-site when needed - acting as our field expert

  • Lead and mentor our hardware working student

  • Plan, coordinate, and verify maintenance actions across installations

  • Manage hardware stock, spare parts, and logistics operations

  • Own documentation, manuals, and maintenance protocols

  • Collaborate closely with our team

  • Ensure continuous improvement of hardware processes, standards, and supplier performance

Fact: We need your skills 🤯

  • 2+ years of experience in hardware-related roles: electronics, mechanical, technical service, field support, or hardware operations

  • Strong understanding of electromechanical systems (electronics or mechanical background)

  • Confidence reading technical drawings, manuals, and wiring diagrams

  • German at B2 level (does not need to be native) + solid English skills

  • Experience communicating with suppliers or manufacturers

  • Willingness to travel ~30% across Germany with company car

  • Hands-on mindset - comfortable assembling, fixing, debugging, and testing hardware

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills

  • First leadership experience (e.g., mentoring juniors, leading technicians) is beneficial

Nice to have:

  • Experience with electromechanical troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems

  • Experience with hardware documentation, maintenance plans, or quality management

  • Background in mobility, urban infrastructure, IoT, or logistics hardware
